He denied knowing anything about it, which should have been the biggest signal that he was going to follow it to a T.

EDIT: That's maybe one of the most annoying things about this. The entire thing just screams pain and suffering, fascism and a new terrifying America and that should've driven every single eligible voter to the poll to shut this whole thing down. Like I get you may have issues with the other candidate, but staying home was the dumbest thing you could've done with a threat of this magnitude and now the entire western world is going to suffer for this stupidity.

I think when people feel left out of the system or that the system doesn't care about them or their needs, they will gravitate to the strongman who will remove those dirty "others" that they've been led to believe are standing in their way of their "By God" American claims to prosperity and wealth. It's not the massive corporations that have destroyed unions and kept your wages low, made home buying nearly impossible, or raised prices on everything. It's the dirty foreigner.

Also: this has been the makeup of the country's power structure for a long time. I'm seeing a lot of white people crying out to boycott Target because they stripped back their DEI efforts. But most POC I know (self included) are completely unsurprised. All the subjects of Trump's cruelty have been subject to cruelty for time immemorial; at times our country has codified language around not being quite so mean, only to dial (or in this case strip) it back.

I'm not saying be complacent or decrease your vigilance, but a lot of this is utterly unsurprising, and something I've seen people clamoring for since I've been politically aware.

I have been thinking a bit about things and my working theory is the country would have been better off had Trump just won in 2020. I think his presidency was built on a faulty base (for what he was attempting to accomplish) when He first set up his government no one knew what they were doing outside the neocon carry overs from the previous GOP administrations he did some shitty things in his first term but a lot of what he wanted to accomplish was thwarted by the “deep state” and people that valued norms. I think after a lot of chaos he was starting to “figure things out” but I still think there woulda been a lot of internal strife that would have muted his effectiveness meaning that continuous 8 years of Trump would have fucked things up but it would not be nearly as bad as what we are gonna experience this time. Plus after 8 years straight of Trump I would hope the country would have been ready for a big change where perhaps a more progressive candidate would be president now.

Instead, with Trump losing in 2020, it gave him time to weed out his ranks and prepare for a new presidency from the base up, MAGA was able to construct their Project 2025 game plan and set themselves up for “success” from the start. Meaning they have been way more efficient from the start while still setting the table to go well beyond what they could have accomplished had they just won in 2020. Also, Trump spent the his time from 2020-2024 attacking the norms and tearing down authority causing for Americans to be more apathetic than ever causing much less resistance and outrage this time around.

As bad as this all seems it all gonna get a lot worse.

Yeah, mine was a post of exasperation I guess. And his supporters just keep bragging about how much money he's saving the country by eliminating wasteful, woke programs.

I'm looking to cash receipts but I can't change anyone's mind. They see the ICE raids as the main thing he wanted to accomplish and is doing so. They all feel "safer" now. Fuck the eggs.

The president wants to use the military as a police force in America. I am sure people around the world will suffer because of Trump but the non-straight white males in America are suffer more than anyone.

But it's all for show. That's where Trump is a masterclass in manipulating both the media and the disinterested general public. These ICE raids were happening under Biden, just not in schools and churches. They weren't broadcasted on the news and social media. They happened under Obama. Obama deported more undocumented than any US President. But they can't give credit to Obama for that because it goes against their worldview. Yeah, he's cutting "wasteful woke programs" but he's spending 800K per flight to send people back on military aircrafts than on commercial flights like before which cost a fraction of that. It's all for show and a willing public will eat it up until the means of production start grinding to a halt, produce is harder or much more expensive to get, poultry and pork is even more expensive, along with all the other products that will rise. He is a chaos agent. That's why they voted for him. It won't matter to them until it affects them. And I'm not talking MAGA. I'm talking the person who may have voted before for Biden or Obama or not voted at all and decided he was the best option in November. MAGA is gone. There is no getting them back.

My argument is that crime (murder, rape, theft, drug dealing, etc…) is already illegal within the US. If ANYONE is committing crimes of this nature they should be held accountable regardless of their status.

Would it make you feel better if your wife was raped and murdered by an American citizen?

She invited an author back on her show to yell at him for lying about the contents of the book he wrote (and she had as book of the month) but has been completely silent on Phil and Oz.
 
I'm sure that guy also calls himself a "Christian". I guess his form of Jesus told the poor they needed to stop sponging off he and his disciples.

And I'm just going to make a wild assumption that the CNN anchor offered little to no pushback on the premise that schools should worry about feeding school kids and not means testing whether they deserve the food or not. I remember one point Tim Walz made so well which is the right was cracking on him for offering free lunch in Minnesota. He replied, yes how horrible that school kids will have full bellies and not worry about where their school days meals will have to come from. This is what the Right prioritizes. There is no doing something for the "greater good" or for the less fortunate. It's all a drain to them because they've never had to live like that.

Also and I don't say this lightly, fuck CNN.

I almost got beat up by a father-son Marine duo at a brewery one evening that said they wanted to hear my thoughts on Jesus. I warned them they wouldn't like my thoughts but they pressed on. I said that Jesus would hate this country, and capitalism, and all these zealots doing stuff in his name. I also threw in that he would probably look more like Bin Laden than Chuck Norris. Needless to say they got aggressive and we ended the discussion. (I don't think they would actually have roughed me up, but they were definitely angry) This was during Trump's last term btw...not that it matters.
