Political Discussion

Anyone watching the congress women who Trump attacked over the weekend holding their press confrence?

They quoted some of trumps tweets, and the language was entirely unexpected for broadcast.

I heard "pussies" and "Shit holes" so far over the air

But damn, they are holding their own and putting Trump in his place.
He is such a fucking nightmare. But, notice nobody is talking about Epstein anymore? 🤔

I am really depressed with how much my healthcare benefits suck this year.

Let's start with Dental, as I had an appointment today.

I have MetLife, same as last year. This year my plan costs me more. However, it provides less coverage. I'm now responsible for 20% of the bill in-network and 40% of the bill out-of-network. Perviously if I was in-network I was 100% covered and if I was out of network I would only owe the difference. If I need to get a filling I would this year have a co-pay which could range from $50 to $750 based on the tooth and filling material. There are over 250 different co-pays listed in the table for fillings alone. Other surgeries have higher co-pays. Root canals are only covered once every 10 years now as well.

Doing the math based on a standard cleaning costing $200, I'm paying more for my dental insurance than I would if I just paid for cleanings. And I still have to pay 20% with insurance.

Now, let's go to healthcare. I'm paying more than ever. My deductible is at an all time record high of $5000. And preventative things such as common labs are no longer covered until after the deductible is met. A cholesterol test at my physical back in May ran up a $290 medical bill for me. And I need to get it retested later this month as it was a little high to see what my next steps are.

I'm sorry; that's terrible. I learned the same lesson regarding dental insurance, which is that it's about the same cost or even cheaper to just pay out of pocket for dental work. Dental insurance is horrible. (Same goes for vision insurance, by the way.) I cancelled after having it for like a year.

Best thing to do is go get your labs done yourself, it’s way cheaper than having it go through your doctor. Most labs have tiered pricing based on what you need done. Your doctor is basically billing the insurance companies to read the lab results to you.
I do this for cholesterol and prostate results which is really easy to read. Just depends on the conditions for which your being tested and how hard it is to understand the results. Obviously I would let the doc read the ones that could be interpreted incorrectly for a more serious condition.

I'm disappointed with Trumps Base. They fully support him with his comments towards the congress women and changed "Send her back!" last night at a rally.

The House of Representatives passed a $15 per hour minimum wage bill today. However, there is a zero percent chance the Republican controlled Senate will allow a vote on this bill.

Disappointed? I’m fucking incensed. I don’t agree with everything Ilhan says, but that doesn’t mean I’m here saying to “send her back”. Saying that to a coworker would get me fired, yet a crowd starts the chant and, instead of talking them down, that dipshit just sat back and reveled in the glory of the fire he ignited.

Did you see Chris Cuomo’s interview with Kris Kobach? Cuomo asked Kobach, if DJT admitted he was a racist, would you still support him? Kobach paused, “I don’t know”, then said, “it depends on who’s running against him”.

Because to a Republican it’s ok to be a racist if the other person is a Democrat.

So mitch Mcconnel thinks Trump is "on to something" with his tweets and advising "Look, I've got nothing to apologize on this front. We've got to tone the rhetoric down across the country. Using, throwing around words like 'racism,' you know, kind of routinely applying it to almost everything. Let's talk about the issues. And the issues are ... where they want to take America. They want to take America into a socialist country."
How does this guy actually manage to stand upright with the complete absence of a spine

That politiscales test is one of the most biased and confusing ones I have run across. In all gender/sex questions there is an undertone that men are aggressors and rapists and women are victims. Then they have complete double context questions like, “A good citizen is a patriot”. Like, what exactly are we asking, here? A good citizen blindly follows his country’s leaders? A patriot is one who stands apart and is thus a good citizen? Like, really, what the fuck?

Funny you mention that. After taking it I discussed some of the wording with one of my coworkers. I said I was forced to put neutral or hesitant for a lot of questions because they lacked context and/or were nuanced ideas.
I think it’s easy if you are willing to answer as a caricature of either side of an issue, if that makes sense.

Regardless, I thought it was interesting and fun. If you present it as a binding reflection of who you are on paper, then I think you’ll be doing yourself a disservice. If you take it with an eye on its limitations and peculiarities then it’s not a waste of time per se.

Although I didn’t read the gender/sex questions so strongly.

I caught that as well, along with other undertones in the ways they were framed. I’d say that the political leanings of the folks who wrote the questions would fit in quite well with a lot of the folks here.
