Political Discussion

The title is a little misleading but the article is worth reading

It's misleading because Biden can unit Americans. Of the general public 87% of registered voters support the next relief bill. He even has support of republicans at the state level including republican governors.

What Biden does not have is support of US Senators. He can for sure create unity amoungst voters, but republican senators are going to obstruct him every step of the way.

In some other good news, it's sounding more and more likely that democrats will go big.

They are rejecting republican counter offers for a skinnier relief bill. A political analyst said they got burnt during the Obama administration by negotiating with republicans and cutting bills only to still not get their support when it comes to the vote on the bill. Then they got blamed for not doing enough or bad bills.

So, at least from the view point of this political analysts on CNN, democrats are going to play hard ball and stick to their guns if the republican senate won't work with them.

But it’s those damn wind turbines frrrreeeezzzzin’ said absolutely no one ever that lived in a prairie State.
I mean they do freeze, if you cheap out and don't pay for the capacity to thaw them, but even if we pretend that isn't the Republicans running the state's fault, there is far less wind generating capacity down than natural gas, coal, and nuclear.

Yet we have these assholes blaming immigrants and the green new deal while people are still freezing. They clearly have no interest in acting like they give a shit about their constituents, or taking responsibility for anything and instead are in their mansions, which I'm sure still have power, tweeting away trying to win points blaming it on their boogeymen with complete lies. I know they are all beyond shame, but I guess I still am overcome with disgust sometimes.

Yup, all the republicans in my family are blaming the libs and their green energy policies for this.

There is no convincing them otherwise.

Gas prices are also going up be cause refineries are closed due to the freezing weather. But apparently that's due to Biden clamping down on fracking as well if you listen to them.

Yeah, my point was more that large swaths of the Country use windmill turbines and their power grid doesn't collapse when things hit sub zero temperatures. Oklahoma isn't having these issues and they a basically a smaller version of Texas and is currently dealing with similar weather conditions.

Here is a fantastic article on why Texas has it’s own electrical grid...
...TL;DR: Fuck FDR.

Sounds pretty much like Texas' current opposition to the green new deal.

To expand on the TL;DR

Texas already had their own grid. FDR signed into law regulation that would create a power grid for the rest of the country that is interstate and can distribute power where needed.

Texas being Texas, Any kind of regulation by the federal government is bad and we want no part of it and so they went off on their own. They could easily go off on their own at the time because they already created a grid capable of distributing power where it's needed within the state.

Do we have bad blood yet?

Will McConnell still back Trump?
McConnel is a weasel, much like Trump, but in a more calculated way, all he cares about is himself. Not the party, not Trump, not his supporters, Trump in 4 years showed ALL republicans that they can work the system and still come out on top when it comes to their own personal gains. You don't need to be a scholar to see all these ass hats trying to use his formula and piggy backing onto his brainless followers. If he can do it, why can't I should be the new republican slogan.

This right here really infuriates me.

Maybe 2 years ago I remember reading about a women who had $10,000 accidentally deposited into her bank account. She didn't say anything and sat on it for a year before thinking she was in the clear and spent it.

Then the bank caught on eventually after an audit. And she was facing criminal charges. Apparently spending money that is not yours that a bank accidentally deposits into your account is a federal crime.

I remember a discussion about this on another forum where everybody said the women was in the wrong. She should have reported the money right away to her bank when she saw it and given it back. Serves her right for spending money that isn't hers to spend.

But when it's a Hedge fund that gets a much larger deposit by accident. It's not a federal crime to not give it back apparently and the courts ruled in favor of the hedge fund keeping the money. That would never happen for a private citizen. Never.
