Political Discussion

So…

Are there any left politicians spitting vitriol over this?

The far right fucks are saying some insidious stuff.

Also, I’m very concerned about the overtly fascist posturing of the pic that is coming to define this moment as well as fist pumping, fight, USA nonsense. Trump’s statements have been I can’t believe this happened here (sorry this is very hard to take seriously) and not tamping down the hate/violence narrative.

In a serious world, this would be a moment for everyone to come together and I have a feeling it’s only going to make it worse.

Sandy Hook was that moment, and we know how that went.

not a politically charged shooting but one that showed how serious sick our country is, when we our “leaders” weren’t moved enough by the murder of children.

There have been plenty of moments hence “a” instead of “the.” Columbine was a moment. Jan 6 was a moment. Charlottesville was a moment.

Sandy Hook was the moment I knew our country had passed the point of no return. So many people's first reaction was "I hope Obama doesn't try to take guns away". We're such a broken nation in part due to our gun culture. We've used gun violence to solve our problems since well before the dawn of this nation. When gun violence hits the Right, it's met with discussion of mental health or violent rhetoric by the Left. We'll never try to do a damn thing about guns. I saw the dipshit governor of my state say that God was watching over Trump yesterday. So I guess God wasn't watching over the kids in Uvalde, or the people in El Paso, or the people at the Allen Outlet Mall, or any number of other places where gunmen killed multiple people. I guess God wasn't watching over the bystander who lost their life yesterday at the rally? This country needs an enema.

nah, hard pass on the "both sides are like this" nonsense.

There's no policy push on the left for things that straight up kill republicans or conservatives. The republican party's posturing -- and this has steadily ramped up since the religious right started to take influence but gotten really extreme in say the last twenty or thirty years -- has barbed wire river deathtraps. That's not "let's stop illegal acts", that's "let's kill anyone coming through". All the anti-LGBT and Women's reproductive health legislation has demonstrable, tracked numbers that show republican anti-choice laws have negative effects beyond just abortion. The american right has long, long had a rich history of disregard for the safety of the common man, especially if there's a buck to be made.

I can't speak for anyone else and I certainly don't regard my thoughts on this to be indicative of the left or liberals in general but at least until covid, I didn't really think the right was trying to kill anyone not on their side. once covid started rolling through and it was a simple matter of "follow the science, let's minimize deaths and work to keep each other safe-ish" and the republican party and donald trump personally took a hard right into actively hindering safety plans and actively stopping safety programs, as well as passively just letting deaths happen because eh fuck the blue states, that for me was a sea change.
“Nonsense”

K.

Great rebuttal there, Don. 🤦‍♂️
Thanks ?

I mean a lot of this is all subjective. Im pointing out observations about both sides from a general stand point.

Guess we don’t want to have that conversation, which is cool.

No need for a rebuttal bc I’m certain it wouldn’t get any of us anywhere fast.

Objectively the two party system continues to fail is.

Cheers

Like @TenderLovingKiller®’s reply to you above, I’m confused about your objective here.
