My insight is scheduled to arrive tomorrow and was hoping for guidance on gain and load settings for my A/T oc9xml cartridge.
Copy, thanks @Joe MacI’d start with 60dB and 100 ohms. Thats around where I have that cart. You can experiment with the loading if you like but I’d probably keep the gain at 60.
Thanks for the advice. Also feel free to experiment with 200 ohm and 1000 ohm loading - it hurts nothing to do so.
Happy to hear that it’s working out for you! This thing is insane it’s as obvious a difference as going from a MM to MC cartridge. Halfway into the first track of “feats don’t fail me now” the album I’ve spun the most over the last couple months and it was obvious.
I have the Paua and love it however it's the only Soundsmith cart I've ever run so I don't have any point of comparison. I will say that you're going to want at least 50 hours of run in before any serious listening, it changes a lot.I really can't say enough about the Phono Loco.
Considering a trade up from my Zephyr MIMC Star to the Paua, anyone having done the same have anything to add?
You can try inexpensive inline high pass filters like these.Anyone here have experience with subsonic filters and their Sutherlands? My Parasound had a rumble filter and I notice woofer pumping.
I’ve got my eye on the KAB one. Gonna try isolation first as I think that might help. (long story but had to return a BBA platform a few months back so re-acquiring one, on its way)You can try inexpensive inline high pass filters like these.

I think earlier in this thread another member successfully used the KAB filter with his 20/20.I’ve got my eye on the KAB one. Gonna try isolation first as I think that might help. (long story but had to return a BBA platform a few months back so re-acquiring one, on its way)
Woofer pumping is usually the biggest indicator. This actually got me wondering if I was getting any subsonic rumble on my own system, but I can't say I noticed anything.
Yeah, I popped off my grilles and played records for a bit, didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary. I’ll do more testing later.Woofer pumping is usually the biggest indicator.
