Television

We've been watching every episode twice this season, looking forward to watching that one again.
I was watching week-to-week but I was getting too antsy so after the corporate retreat episode I stopped watching and decided to wait until it finishes its run and then binge the whole thing. I binged a rewatch of season 1 prior to starting season 2 and I feel that is a better way for me to enjoy this.

It’s funny there are currently at least 3 shows I am waiting for all the episodes to drop before diving in, Severance, Jack Reacher, and The White Lotus. As a result I have just been primarily focused on rewatching Mad Men. With the end of that fast approaching, I am gonna try to fit in the new Netflix Mindy created Kaling Basketball comedy, Running Point. It has a killer supporting cast and the previews look pretty funny.

Great discipline! We usually don't watch the latest Severance or White Lotus episodes until the following day, but both shows have us excited to watch asap.

Speaking of White Lotus, I'm loving this season. I guess I just like Mike White's way of telling a story.

Anyone have thoughts on Paradise?
I think that's going to be our next watch, and probably one of the last before we cancel Disney+.

Seriously...I don't know how you can dodge spoilers from that long.

Severance is actually one of the shows I DON'T mind watching week to week.

Reacher I kind of wish I could binge but it's something to look forward to on Thursdays I guess.
We watch Severance live on Thursday nights then rewatch again over the weekend. If for some reason we can't watch it on Thurs., both of us stay offline so as to avoid any spoiler, and sit down with coffee on Fri a.m. to watch it.

Last week's ep was outstanding. Tonight's is listed as rather short, but I'm sure there will be a lot packed in.

I am not an “avoid spoilers at all costs” kinda person. Twists are fun but if it’s quality entertainment, it’ll be a fun regardless.

I absolutely loved it. The premise is really interesting and I thought it was really well done. I don't want to say too much as to give anything away. They already announced a second season to so I think it's worth giving it a shot.

Just finished the season.

It was okay. For me it kind of came off as an unserious network TV drama. I don't know why I went in with any impression otherwise. It was entertaining but really flawed. The writing at times was pretty bad, the plot was pretty predictable so a lot of the shocks fell flat. The whole playing a song, then putting a cheesy cover of said song at the end thing got annoying FAST.

I really like Sterling K Brown as an actor, I'm not sure this was a good use of his talents though.

I'll check out season 2 just to see where it goes when it opens up a bit, but I'm not super excited for it's return.

Finished Mr. and Mrs. Smith season 1. Kind of hated the ending, and honestly the whole time after they started arguing. Like, I knew the premise of what would inevitably happen but the end, but I found them teaming up for missions much more compelling television than once they weren't on the same page. But man, did it scratch the post-Atlanta itch that I had.

That's too bad, I really enjoyed it and disagree with much of your assessment. But thats ok, people like different things! :)

Had a friend recommend The Old Man and really enjoyed it. But kinda grumpy with them over the recommendation of a show that isn't going to have a finish! Unfortunate they couldn't get a third season or at least a couple episodes to tie it up.

Holy shit Netflix new 4-part miniseries Adolescence is fucking great. I am through the first episode and it’s so good. Every episode is is one long continuous shot. No cuts no edits and as technically amazing as that is, the actual story of a 13 year old accused of murdering a classmate is completely enthralling in its own right. Everyone should check it out. It’s an intense watch.

I think this season of Severance is, overall, quite good, but I’m enjoying the sci-fi more than the mystery. I’m liking the ”you’re using my body to cheat on me,” what does it mean to be a person who exists within another person (or what does it mean to have a person existing in parallel with you) more than the mysterious project, weird ether dynasty, basement brain surgery aspects of the show. I may be in the minority, but the bottle episodes have been too mysterious and “reality”-breaking for me.

I'm finding the pacing of this latest season a bit off. It's good still, but the last couple of episodes could've done more with the time and be less concerned with shots that add to atmosphere and less to do with telling the story. The last episode in particular could've done a better job filling the time.

Like, you're really telling me 3 major characters, one with all the secrets spent all day together and we're only going to get some answers after a long journey to the Innie cabin?

The show is paced as Kier wills it, you children!
