I used to go to a lot of shows for free in my younger years. Easily one of my favorites was of one of my most loved bands of all time when they were touring for this album. I’ll admit, this is an album that I tend to forget but it is a really decent record.

Day 15
Herbie Hancock – River: The Joni Letters

Herbie Hancock won his AOTY off an album of Joni Mitchell covers. Play another covers album or an album with a cover you love (bonus points if you play the original version of the song as well)

Lucinda Williams – You Are Cordially Invited... A Tribute To The Rolling Stones

Day 16
Stevie Wonder - Innervisions
Stevie Wonder gained creative control the year prior to this and started his classic era, play another album where an artist has complete creative control

Kate Bush - The Dreaming

Kate's vocals are at her most passionate, aggressive, playful, and yet elegant all the while. The change-ups from start to finish are vibrant and creative. For the first time, she had the means and the courage to take full reins of the process and create the album she set her mind to. The result was something previously unheard, and it has consolidated Bush's position as a serious, independent artist in the eyes of posteriority. It is also significant in being one of the first albums produced by a female artist herself.

This excellent newer release has shown up on a few days this month. I think these lyrics for "Hard Out Here" express her feelings to her former label and drive to stay true to her vision.

All the white men CEOs, fuck your privilege
Get your pink chubby hands off my mouth, fuck you think this is?
I told my lawyer stand by (war), there is no wrath like a women scorned
Uh, now I bet you wish

I've been a bit sick - fever/chills and nausea the past couple of days, so I haven't played anything and need to catch up again....but since I called in sick at work yesterday and today, I'm off until Tuesday night.

Day 13
Play another album that is an artist's last

I usually play the original 2 LP version, but they did a pretty good job on this 1 LP release.

XTC – Wasp Star (Apple Venus Volume 2)
Ape House – APELP119, 2000/2018

Cut by Jason Mitchell at Loud Mastering

  • Stevie Wonder – Fulfillingness’ First Finale
    • Stevie Wonder is the first artist to win AOTY with back to back album releases, play the follow up album to an album youve played previously in the month

I played Neil Young & The Bluenotes on day 3. This EP was the followup, released in April 1989, and the sonic precursor to the full Freedom album released in October of that year.
