Vinyl Me Please Anthology

I assume everybody received their emails about Anthology? Mine was in my junk folder.

So we receive the whole box set at once with the records in secrecy sleeves?

Who will actually wait to open these sleeves along with the weekly unboxing videos & podcasts? I’ve got a feeling I’ll just want to open & play them all as soon as they arrive; though having said that, I know I’ll be very busy in January & probably won’t have time to be playing 8 new records all at once, so maybe it will be more fun to discover along with everybody else.

Is this how the previous Anthologies were revealed?
I didn’t get the email. I checked my junk folder. Nothing. I did have the order confirmation email. Do I need to be concerned?

Yeah, annoyed its gone back to facebook but, as others have pointed out, the Women of Motown page was a ghost town.

And, although the secrecy sleeves do work okay, I still feel its an annoying roundabout way of making sure everyone has the records on time. In an ideal world, it would be better if everything was shipped over multiple weeks.

The Blue Note facebook group was good at first, there were a couple people posting really educational articles and writeups on the material. It degraded into complaints and a couple guys posting the same pictures of their records over and over, and even posting pictures of CDs but trying to pass them off as records. It got weird.

As long as the rollout is smooth the group should be pretty good. We shall see.
It was so boring! Like, I lost interest in the page/group after a few days lol But then again, I didn’t even listen to a single podcast, so I can’t really talk! 😅

I might join the Stax Facebook group, just to check it out. Just to see what’s up! Maybe I’ll try and find an online sugar daddy there, who can fund all my future VMP Anthologies and can buy me some vinyl I’d really want 😅🙈🤷‍♂️🤣

I like the single VMP Anthology box delivery! I prefer it so much more to the multiple shipments! Less chance of the shipment getting lost. And you can literally just wait to open the records, if you don’t want to know what they are. The records are sealed, where you cannot see the album art!

Right, but the initial design of Anthology was effectively short term subscriptions. Which, by shipping all the records at once, this *isn't*

Definitely feels like a square peg in a round hole kind of response to potential issues.

Mmmmmmmm yeah, I know where you’re coming from. It’s like, less of an experience in a sense by only having one delivery instead of 3-4 deliveries. It’s kinda like, we can watch the first two episodes in the first week. Then you can’t watch the next few episodes until next week! We must wait for the next episodes to be delivered!

I really like the single box though. It’s like we have all the episodes there, and you can choose to do it all in a few days, or take your time! But you still don’t know what the next episodes are. It’s like, you don’t know who gets eliminated and who the two finalists are, with this VMP Anthology box as it’s all concealed!

The single box system is really beneficial for the overseas customers. The Blue Note Anthology simply didn't work as intended for most people outside of the US. There also wound up being a lot of people who just wanted all of their records right away. I don't see this is a square peg in a round hole, its the only way they can do this Anthology and service everyone equally.

I plan on following the rollout but I guarantee that a lot of people won't care about that and will want to open everything immediately. This is the only way that works for everyone.

I’m definitely opening and am listening to everything straight away!!! 🕺💃

I also really want to know if the William Bell album is in fact “Phases Of Reality” or not! 🙇‍♂️

I'm 100% fine with everything coming all at once. Especially after how they fell down on the Blue Note distribution. Way too many issues with possibly missing out on getting the records on time.
Still waiting on a replacement Blue Note Schizophrenia here 😁 if I ever went for an anthology with the secrecy sleeves, I'd still open and play everything ASAP to make sure the quality was okay. The last thing I'd want is for anyone to be chasing a replacement months after it ended with 35 emails back and forth, kinda like what I'm doing now 🤪

Did you get the Women of Motown set? I have wondered if I should do the same thing, but I also never saw a lot of noise about issues with the QC for that one. Hopefully this goes as smoothly as the WoM went.

I have the WOM set. Only had one issue with one of the later LPs. I am a fan of the earlier works, so when it got to the last few I was only somewhat engaged in the music. It had it's moments, but not sure I would ever proactively spin those. On the last song of side A for one of those it would skip, and the vinyl looked perfect. I added a little extra tracking and that took care of it. The majority of those LPs were phenomenal sounding!

So I got the Motown anthology a few days ago. It is very well done. One thing that I haven't seen mentioned are the stock 12 x 12" card prints that come in the set. Would be a selling point, no? Anyway, here they are in order.

Martha and the Vandellas
The Supremes
Mary Wells
Tammi Terrell
Táta Vega
Syreeta
Teena Marie
Erykah Badu

I thought it was strange that those were printed with the photo on the matte side and the text on the glossy side. It made the liner notes razor-sharp, and the photos kind of muddled-looking.
