Vinyl Me Please Classics

Yes, as a Jew (apparently my "bias"), I called it a shanda and I stand by that.
I have no horse in this race, but in no place did Lee (nor, as far as I can tell, did anyone else) refer to your bias as a jewish thing or suggest that it's based on either religion or ethnicity (it might be, that's for you to say), but to say Lee's not arguing the merits while at the same time mischaracterizing what he actually said is at best a poor argument and at worst disingenuous.

FWIW, although I was not familiar with the term shanda and had to look it up, I don't necessarily think Chappelle's views are a disgrace (maybe Stewart's defense of him is a disagrace though, especially since he shifts the conversation to the meta topic of the outrage instead of talking about what Chappelle actually said). Chappelle's a 50 year old rich dude who lives in rural Ohio. That he's not white and works in an industry that exposes him to a diverse audience and that he made his bones in big cities means he's more broadminded than your average rural midwestern middle-aged millionaire, but that he doesn't agree with something as fundamental as language is hardly surprising.

I thought this was done, but sure, here we go. If you thought that was an unfair remark, fair enough, and I agree it was snarky. I also stand by it based on what he said. I didn't take it well when it was implied that my thoughts on anti-semitism don't carry weight due to my bias on the subject, so...

The use of shanda was clearly only referencing Stewart, specifically mentioning him. It's used by Jews regarding other Jews.

I would like to believe that living in big cities and interacting with a diverse audience would make someone more broadminded, but it's no guarantee. The nicest thing I can say about his SNL monologue is that he didn't test the material in front of audiences to see how it would be received; likely fresh riffing on a topic. It's unclear that he cares about that anymore, though, either.

Yusef is killer, wasn’t very familiar but really love this one. Pressing is a home run.
Interesting. I've had the Many Faces Of... 2-Fer with this session for years and always thought it was solid but not revelatory by any means. Interested if anyone has compared other pressings to this one.

I let my yearly sub lapse in December so I am no longer a member and didn't renew for this. I'm less than enthused with the upcoming offerings other than maybe the Kristofferson, to be honest. Last year was pretty weak for the Classics sub on the balance.

Agreed. No gz issues on this one aside from a couple super minor pops that I barely even noticed. Could just need a quick clean. Hopefully Otis is the same....there's only one discog review on that repress and they said they had to put in for replacement because of issues on side b. It's still sitting in a stack of "I've bought way to much stuff and I can't get through it all" pile of records which also includes rotms from months ago.

How big is your pile? Think mine is about 20 without the Vanguard anthology sitting there. Oldest one from VMP is Check Your Head but I also have a NIN/Bowie boot that I think I bought about 3-4 mo ago.
It’s way too big haha. About 3/4 of a kallax cube of stuff I’ve gotten on massive sale. Which means I didn’t need to buy it…but I also have a newborn so listening time has been unpredictable!

I’m tracking backlog in my collection 2023 thread posts. I currently have 59 (thread says 61 a Yusef and Karma were spun this morning and in that pile) The oldest is an opera boxset I bought before the pandemic:

Thanks for making me feel better about mine. Not so bad in retrospect. Once I got through the John Hughes box set (brilliant btw) things should clear up much quicker.
