Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

I don’t expect satin-laced boxes. But I have ordered a lot of records from a lot of different places the past few months. I was a bit surprised when my order of 12 from VMP this month had not one bit of bubble wrap or any padding at all in the big box. Other places have individually packaged the records, put them in a big box, with plenty of cushions and wrap and such in between. So, not saying stuff needs to be delivered to me by storks on pillows....but industry standard would be nice.

when was your email sent? I will tell you this, they wasted no time to tell me that they were sold out and couldn't send me one, I feel like I get that reply in less than 10 mins
Thursday I think

So the amount of bubble wrap really depends on the person packing your box, it is very inconsistent

Yeah, this here is precisely why this sort of condescending bullshit about "satin laced boxes" is so damn infuriating. We're not asking for satin laced boxes (whatever the fuck those are) we simply expect the bare minimum of actually consistently packing the boxes with bubble wrap properly and they can't even get that right. And they have the gall to write this pithy crap as if they actually have ANY sort of consistent packaging method going on. The last box I got just had bubble wrap shoved into it, not even around the records. Gimme a fucking break.

did VMP actually say something about "satin laced boxes" in regards to their shipping?

Unreal.

I think the best part is that in their decision to be as condescending as possible they fucked up their line... it's either a "satin & lace box" or a "satin lined box" there's no such thing as a "satin laced box". So they didn't even get their attempt at derision right.

yeah, but they definitely did have holdbacks on Morby when they told me they didn't
When I got De La Soul Is Dead, it had some nasty jacket creases. I emailed in about it, having known from the forum for at least a week at that point (BOTS + west coast, fun times) that they were "all out" of replacement copies. Figured it'd be good for them to know about, and I might get a partial refund for it (didn't even need a full refund!). To my incredulity, they replied within 20 minutes, telling me they did indeed have replacement copies left and would send one out to me. All this to say, VMP's knowledge of their own inventory is just as fucky when it comes to replacements and holdbacks as when it comes to everything else.

do you, have you recently requested a few replacements?
I did request a replacement for Experience Unlimited because it had a non-fill issue that caused a sound defect on one of the songs, but I don't see how that's relevant to them telling me that they were sold out of "Oh My God" when I requested a replacement for that as well. it's not like they said, "hey we just replaced another record from this same shipment so we can't send you another Morby too". they said that they were "sold out" on Tuesday and then proceeded to send replacements to you and @hlaveta on Thursday.

I had recently requested two replacements (Nat Turner and Sister Gertrude) from the same month's box that were damaged. Nat had several skips from warpage.

further, I don't think it's acceptable for them to hold back replacements to someone if they sent any number of records previously to make up for them being defective. if they send 10 defective records in a single order all 10 should be replaced. additionally, we here are aware that there is an obvious pressing issue affecting several copies of "Oh My God", so that doesn't seem like the right time to take a hard stance against shipping out replacements.

Did you provide any sort of proofs for them? My recent shipment was pretty badly dished but they want a video of it. i'm not even sure it's worth the hassle at this point as they can't even replace the record and i'm sorta over giving them any more business.

found it, thanks. yeah that is a bit condescending. just pack them well... which in all honestly 9x out of 10 my boxes from VMP are packed extremely well

They probably find it cute, savvy, hip to have that in the policy, they have always had a casual approach that at this point is more an immature sign now

Yes. I provided photos and video of the NTR with the skipping audible. I also provided a video of the Morby. The warping doesn't cause it to skip on my turnable, but it was enough that I thought I would point it out to CS.
