Yeah, I don’t like FOMO culture! I do like alerting this forum that something is close to running out, just because I like the people here. But FOMO culture is expensive and it means you don’t spend money on what you truly want, only on what you think you want.

I really wanted the half-sped remastered pressings of Everything But The Girl’s Walking Wounded (which comes out next week) and Amplified Heart! But shipping cost around AUD$25 each for me. Like it really can be tough here in Australia in terms of making a purchase, when shipping fees are added in!

I am going to be quieting down on purchases though! I’m about to buy an Apple Watch, and will mainly focus just on the ROTM’s and VMP Anthology Box Sets and exclusives related to the ROTM’s! I won’t be buying much vinyl anywhere else, unless it’s through only the artist’s site, who I love, like Frank Ocean, Fiona Apple, SOPHIE, Kali Uchis, D’Angelo etc

do you need an Apple Watch though? It’s one of my least loved technology purchases four years after buying it. It’s not cheap, it needs charging every night (which mean I don’t take it travelling anywhere because it’s yet another charger) and it’s nowhere near as cool as the idea seems. I’m back to using my old reliable self winding Seiko Kinetic watch daily. it tells the time, it doesn’t need charging and it never needs a battery replacing. My phone can do all the other stuff.

As a counterpoint to this view, I bought a series 0 Apple Watch used a few years back for $80 thinking that this is exactly where I would end up too, but have come to love it. I don't use it EXTENSIVELY for anything other than checking the time, but I do love it for running/exercising and knowing when my wife has messaged me. Throwing it on a charger at night doesn't really bug me either and I kind of like having it next to the bed to check the time when I want to. I hate nightstand clocks, so this found a happy little niche I didn't expect it would. I'll be purchasing a series 5 at some point as this OG is finally starting to show its age. It still works and keeps a solid charge, but there are a few apps/complications that are no longer compatible. OS4 is as high as I can go so it stands to reason.

You know why I want an Apple Watch? Because I want to go for long runs on the beach without holding my phone in my hand. Yes, I have zip pockets with my running shorts, but I hate the feeling of my phone going up and down and it weighs down the shorts a bit! Also, after I run for like 45 mins - 1 hour, I can literally take off my runners and socks and go and swim in the water because the watch (series 5 Apple Watch) is complete water proof! So I literally don’t have my phone, go for a run with my Bluetooth earphones without anything in my hands and shorts, then literally jump into the water to cool down with no phone or anything sitting on the sand, and live summer in the coolest way possible!

Summer is coming and I live super close to the beach, so having this Watch is going to be life-changing for me! It’s going to make being healthy so much more exciting and sexy! 😈

And also, I don’t need to have my phone on me, because I’ll pay the extra money to receive calls and texts etc without needing to have my phone nearby! Like, I won’t bring my phone to work! It will be everything!!! 🔥🔥🔥

And I’ll pay with my watch, I’ll nap at work on my break and my watch will vibrate when I need to wake up, instead of having a noise on my phone wake me up! Like, I can’t wait to live a cooler and more exciting lifestyle! 🙌

And it means I’ll spend less time probably on this forum too, as I won’t be on my phone at work for example!

Yeah mine is a series 1. I spend a lot of weekends away for one reason or another so carrying yet another charger is a ball ache. I actually don’t even like it visually as a watch, which is its main purpose. I just find my self winding watch better as a timepiece and less hassle. My phone can do all those other things you mention.

I just think it's cool that you can change the face of your watch . That's something I used to daydream about while staring at the clock in high school.

PS The Apple Pay on it is cool, I used to love the James Bond feeling haha! That said it’s on my phone too and FaceID makes that proper slick!

I get this too. I don't travel a ton, but when I do I usually don't bother bringing it either.

Just as a heads up (and this is all second hand), expect your battery to take a massive hit if you plan on using cellular a lot.

I’ll probably be wearing my watch around 12 hours a day! So hopefully it lasts that long! If not, no biggie though because it’ll mainly be used for working out/running!

That’s another thing, my wrist feels naked without a watch, it’s on from when I get out of the shower till I go to bed. The Apple watch battery never lasted that long, even new.

Dang! Mine lasts the advertised 18 hours, but it's non-cellular. The flip side positive is that they charge VERY quickly. If you spend any amount of time a desk you could easily have a charger there to throw it on if need be. Not ideal, but an option.

Oh man, last year's Black Friday was insane.
First, they gave $20 if you bought a $100 gift sub (including for yourself). And it's kind of convoluted, but essentially you could do this every day for a week using the credits you just gifted yourself.
Then, they posted a bunch of OOS titles that I assume were old replacement copies they were flushing. Good shit, too. PLUS, those titles were only $10-15!
And FINALLY, there was a promo code for an additional 15-20% off!!

That said, it was a complete madhouse. The website crashed immediately and throughout the following 6 hours. The promo code quickly leaked and could be used by non-members. And I think shipping was horribly delayed.

Overall, it was awesome!! :D
