Thanks for keeping us posted. Crazy that you are having to deal with stuff months and months afterwards.
Since the damage / exchange policy has been brought up, here's the email that I received back in July, after I let them know that they sent me a bent up copy of that Lukas Nelson album. Remember, this was recently available again when they restocked a bunch of leftovers of old titles.
"Thanks for reaching out! I am sorry to hear your record were received with bent corners. Unfortunately, we don't generally offer replacements for bent corners or dings. Actually, the Lukas Nelson is completely out of stock so I wouldn't be able to any way. However, I would be happy to throw on some store credit for the inconvenience if that helps. Let me know what you think."
Again, they just sold replacement copies to people a few weeks ago, so they definitely had them. I responded telling them that their company has essentially become another Newbury, so if the whole selling point is color variations in vinyl and special packaging and that they are justifying their jacked up pricing due to that packaging, then they are charging me for something that I'm not getting. I also mentioned that I have a track record of getting banged up packages on par with @Mather getting warps. They've been acknowledging that they have inconsistencies in their shipping practices forever but, instead of ever doing anything, they changed up the exchange policy. He then followed up with this.
"I really appreciate you taking the time to write this and give us your feedback. To be honest, the packaging issue is something that we've been seeing quite a bit recently specifically the inconsistencies in practice, like you mentioned. Just know, this has been brought to the attention of the staff at the facility and we're also looking at better ways to package records in general to avoid transit damages in the future.
I totally get what you're saying about our damage policy and I agree with you. The jackets are just as important as the records. Although, I wish we could replace every single record replacement request we receive, that's unfortunately not something we are able to do at this point, given they are all a limited pressing."
He went on to agree to send me the Jeff Buckley record. But, right there, he admits that they know it's fucked and that, on top of that, he doesn't agree with the policy, because it's also fucked. The fact that they had the record the whole time is bullshit. This also highlights something else though, because I ordered a record prior to the forum shut down. My replacement was Jeff Buckley. Some folks are still dealing with the Buckleys not showing up. So, when people are saying that ex-members shouldn't be complaining or that you can just leave, it's important to acknowledge that you could literally leave this club and be trying to get your shit worked out for the next 6 months.
