The agutierrezb 2019 record collection challenge

So I've decided to embark on my own personal challenge, which consists of listening every record in my collection before the end of the year. My record collection is not that big -only ~250-, but I still feel like there are a bunch of records I don't give enough attention to, while still adding more titles to my shelves.

For this reason I've set a couple of rules in order to play every record at least once before December 31st: I'll play at least one record a day, going from front to back in the way I have them sorted in my shelf. I can play a different record (i.e. Not the next one in alphabetical order) if I feel like listening to something else in any given moment, but at least one of the records I spin in the day has to be the LP in turn.

I didn't take pictures for the first two days, but I'll try to document the process from here on, so I'll be posting daily on this thread. Wish me luck!

#130: LaToya Jackson - No relations



This is a record I had only spun once before, and one that, just like the Paul Anka album a while ago, was all a friend of mine could find at a thrift store to gift me after she found I collected vinyl. The funny thing is she mistook LaToya for Janet, and thought she was giving me an album by the superior Jackson sister.

The album is a mess, but it's got some interesting ideas going on. Think Prince meets Madonna with some rap features... All of that back in 1991.

This is obviously not one of the 100 best records to own on vinyl (sorry VMP), but it actually is pretty great.

I got it used at my local. Says STAX701 1962 Atlantic US mono on back cover and on record. I think it sounds great.

I am not one to shy away from a compliment. Glad you’ve enjoyed them! You should look into the VMP Copy of Lemon of Pink it is a beautiful package and due to the idiosyncratic nature of the LP you can pick up a copy for less than $20 shipped on discogs.
