Definitive Audiophile pressings

More Miles MOFI restocks

they are getting a lot of mileage out of these...

I mean, this is where audiophiles start to lose me a bit. Does it really matter for Iggy?
Haha Fair. Was mostly asking because I read the latest reissues sucked. So wanted to know what if any pressings were out there that didn’t suck and weren’t $70…not really any different from wanting the best sounding Rolling Stones pressings since they weren’t really an “audiophile” band

damn In a Silent Way is OOS. I was hoping to see what else came back in stock and then combining a few of those to make the international shipping efficient.

In A Silent Way was the one I wanted most. Do we think it's gone for good now? Pain.
I think MD was telling people with pressing issues that they could replace it if gets a repress but I wouldn’t hold my breath…

It’s not in the upcoming slate of supervinyl or one steps and they pressed something like 1500 this time around. I think they pressed enough to get to other retailers so might have luck with that.

MoFi is opening their own plant so there’s a chance if they still have licenses they may repress more. VMP is also doing an AAA In A Silent Way this year likely as part of a Miles anthology

Anybody have a Lust For Life - Iggy Pop pressing recommendation?
I can't believe what the US originals are fetching now - I got mine in store with a slightly damaged sleeve for like $3.
I'm a fan of the RCA International pressings, I see quite a few over the years on 'cogs. German pressings usually sound great.

is one example.

If you haven't seen it, the documentary is excellent. The room in Hansa Studios contributed to the sound of that album.

thanks! this is what i was looking for. i was pretty shell-shocked at OG US pressings too.

MoFi: "we digitized all the master tapes to DSD because we wanted to preserve them and not introduce additional wear."

VMP: "we don't give a shit about the tapes, let's just make money!"
KG said that only Sterling was getting access to those Sony tapes so makes sense why VMP has access to them. It’s why KG said people in the industry weren’t shocked about MoFi cutting from DSD. I do think Hoffman helped screw up labels giving access to tapes

This is what I have. Fine is how I would describe it.
I have the US release from 2017 which looks to be a different cut unless Discogs is wrong. Iggy Pop - Lust For Life

Supposedly an AAA cut but I don’t remember that being touted anywhere. Not sure how to confirm that one either unless Ian Sefchick said so. There’s no updated liner credits. I will say, it actually sounds quite good though I couldn’t blast it like I would like to since the baby is sleeping. My copy is clean too. Think I got it for under $20 off Amazon when it was released.
