Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

Welp. It is done. Lyngdorf 3400.View attachment 229895It was the first unit on my list like 2 years ago. Show demo 60% off retail with full warranty and shipped from the distributer...I gotta do it. If I want to go separates I can probably trade this in for close to what I got it for ($3000 USD). 400 watts, RoomPerfect, streamer, HT Bypass and $6000 off.
This is basically the most ideal way to buy any gear. Awesome purchase!

Thanks mate. I know it's not the most exciting way to go in terms of what I was considering but it pretty much checks every box for what I know I need and man I'm not sure I've ever seen a better reviewed piece of gear. Hell even Audio Science Review liked it (once they engaged the RoomPerfect). But most importantly, at that price, I can easily trade it in down the line without taking too much of a hit if I decide I really do want to go full separates once I get the system fully installed downstairs.

Oh. And you wanna see deals? Same dealer has the brand new Lyngdorf C-100 speakers, show demo. TWENTY ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS OFF OF RETAIL.
$7000 CAD instead of $28,000. Full warranty from distributer etc etc...

So i went with the KEF Q6 Meta center channel and the KEF Concerto Meta bookshelf speakers after much consideration. $1350 with shipping. A steal that just gives me another reason to be grateful for my dad.

I still have no idea wtf I'm gonna do about the placement of the center speaker. I've spent hours researching TV mounts that would allow me to lower the TV to just below the mantle but any center stands designed for the Sanus's of the world are meant for soundbars at 20ish lbs.

In the short term, I'm probably gonna have to just put it in front of the fireplace-- at a height that my cat doesn't deem a new scratching post.

Eventually, I'll add a sub and pay somebody to put all the wiring into the wall... and probably either upgrade the size of the TV (or mount it to get it lower).

In the meantime, anyone wandering through this thread is encouraged to solicit ideas.

Congrats on the centre! Could you sketch your equipment setup perhaps? To give everyone a better idea of how things are placed. At the moment, I can’t see how one could get the centre both pointed at your ears and centred on the screen if the tv is above a fireplace.

Believe it or not, this was not from my contact! This was just a local that will occasionally sell demo stuff through the distributors. This was actually posted on Audiomart, it's partly why I had to jump on it so fast, because at that price it would be gone very quick. Same for those insane $21,000 off C-100 speakers. Both just from this local. Noteworthy Audio out of King City Ontario.

Noteworthy has all sorts of Lyngdorf stuff heavily discounted on the mart. Seperates too, from what I saw, though nothing approaches those speakers for savings. It's nuts. I wonder what's up.

Hope the amp is fab, @Mather.

So, I a traditional entertainment set up til the new spot. Now it looks like this, with the center speaker (new one will be too big) sitting off to the left.

I think I have three options...

1) Leave the TV as is (too high) and eventually replace it with a bigger one. Mount the new center speaker to the top of the fireplace, just under the TV.

2) Get the Sanus 4D Shift for a wild $400. Bring the TV to just down below the mantle and then put the center speaker on a ground stand in front of the TV. Doing so will clutter my living room and leave the speaker prone to getting bumped into but provide the best "experience".

3) Move the credenza towards the fireplace. Put the right speaker all the way over in the corner, poking out at an angle. Mount the center speaker on the wall to the right of the TV. Eventually mount the TV. Not an ideal set up, at all. But not too dissimilar to how things are now.

I think I lean towards option 1...

Can we get a couple other shots of the living room? From the fireplace/tv area to where the seating is and from the sidewall?

im going to add the unhelpful suggestion of

Sell the TV and get a projector screen over the mantle and projector on the other side of the room and put a the center channel on top of the mantle perhaps?

Should solve all your problems and get the big piece of black glass out of valuable decorative real estate

If I flip anything to the other side of the room than seated is extremely limited.

Also, I adore my OLED and projectors can't come close unless they are very high end. Especially for video games.

I can’t comment on the fidelity issue, but he was saying put the screen where your tv is now.

Oops. Currently doped up on Nyquil. Was at the (great) concert and realized I've definitely caught a cold from my company's quarterly gathering. Felt guilty I was unmasked by the end.

Anything projected there would still be too high. Especially if you're accounting for a center channel. And then you are adding another piece of equipment on the other side of the room.

Love the outside the box thinking though. @SnowmaNick also suggested building a shelf inside the fireplace which I can't get out of my head. If the speaker weren't completely inside, that might work. But it would cost decent $ to safely take apart while simultaneously hurting the property value. Which makes it a no-go.

Maybe look at one of these Mount-It! over the fireplace mounts. This will allow you to move the TV to a proper viewing height and depending on your Center channel you can mount it under the TV directly.
