Everything Video Games!

I see a lot of people with the opinion that Infinite is their favorite Bioshock game but I didn't like it as much as 1 and 2. To be fair, I played them all late last year and earlier this year for the first time so idk if they were differently recieved games around the release dates.

I agree! I was so disappointed with Infinite because it was too linear and I was basically done with the game in 7 hours. I remember checking my play time and it was so low compared to at least 20 hours with the other two games.

I'd have to rank em 1 > 2 > Infinite. I liked the story in 1 the most, plus it felt new and fresh, not too many weapons and was decently challenging. 2 was a classic sequel with slight improvements on attributes and plasmids. I also didn't like how Bioshock 2 had improvements on each plasmid up to a third tier, but by the time you got to that third tier the game was basically over and you couldn't really use those plasmid for longer periods of the game.
Plus 2 had one of the best DLCs I've ever played. The multiplayer had a lot of potential too, but didn't quite fully realize it.

I guess if I had played the DLC I could have used those top tier plasmids! Kinda disappointing that when the repackage all 3 games together for a console that DLC is not included. I guess it's another way for them to get you via a purchase at some point.

Just started playing Streets of Rage 4. Really enjoying it. SoR 1-3 were some of the best beat-em-ups on Sega (or even elsewhere). SoR 4 is more challenging from the get-go than the first 3, which is nice. I also appreciate that you get all the classic baddies plus they introduce a lot of new types of enemies to learn their moves to counter.

The updated aesthetic is cool. A bit cartoony - reminds me of Comix Zone from way back when a little.

My biggest criticism is the soundtrack. Don't get me wrong - it's no bad per se. But it isn't as forward as it was in the first three. I used to groove while playing. It seems more restrained on this fourth edition.

Also, FWIW, Bioshock Infinite is my favorite. The criticisms about the story/progression are kind of valid but it had the most satisfying combat.

HDMI 2.1 is broken. This means many TV's and AV receivers are unable to handle the 4k/120 HDR signal from the Playstation 5, Xbox Series X and graphics cards from AMD/Nvidia.

This videos goes into why it doesn't work, and how that could have happened.

Needless to say, if you want any kind of 4K/120 HDR gaming compatible hardware may not be available until 2022.

That is a pretty incredible SNAFU.

Finally finished bioshock

Still a masterpiece

I might like infinite a little more
Have not played infinite. Saving that one for a rainy day. Loved Bioshock 1 + 2 though - very immersive games without being open world. I love the alt-history feel of it.

Been playing Pumpkin Jack on Switch following its release. Stuck where the final boss battle begins, though it sounds like a patch is coming in the next day or so. Super fun and seasonally appropriate!

My SO started Hades once we realized PJ was stuck till the patch. The music is so good! No surprise there though. I've played Bastion and watched playthroughs of Pyre and Transistor. Supergiant has a winning formula on art, music and gameplay.

How's Pumpkin Jack? I saw a trailer for it the other day, it seemed like something I might enjoy.

Dark Souls update time! Made my way through Lost Izalith, spending way too much time fighting that stupid Titanite Demon on the bridge, only to find it RESPAWNS! Also beat the boss here, interesting "fight." I was hoping to find a Titanite Slab somewhere in here in order to upgrade my Mace to +15, but no luck. Looked up where I can find them, and found that Siegmeyer's quest ended with a Titanite Slab if completed. I set out to do so, missing him in Blighttown since I went there before I went to Anor Londo. Went back and helped him out of the poison, then headed back to Lost Izalith. In my hubris I thought I would be able to destroy the enemies before he took too much damage, but alas, we took out several of the creatures when I suddenly took 2/3 of my health out of nowhere and died. I sprinted back, only to get that as Sigmeyer passed. Pretty bummed about this, I liked him. Didn't want to grind out that slab on super low chances, so I decided to start the Artorias of the Abyss DLC. Made my way down to dragonland, and got the slab and some items. Going to go fight the boss next. I also read you can fight the dragon as well, but I'll do that after the boss. Getting really close to the end, I'm both excited and sad.

Cyberpunk delayed again, I feel so bad for CDPR's employees. Has to be fucking hell on earth over there.
I mean, they're all working from home tryna optimize for two generations of consoles (with even different versions of each generation). I do not fault them for taking their time. Hopefully this will give me time to try and find a damn 3080.

They're not really taking they're time necessarily though. They're working mandatory 12-hour shifts six days a week. The game went gold last week, so the fact that they delayed it again just shows that 1 there has to be a LOT of problems with the game, 2) the pandemic has fucked the release schedule, and 3) management has horribly handled production of the game during said pandemic and the workers are taking the brunt of that.

It's fun! The writing is hilarious and the art direction is totally up my alley. It's a bit short IMO, and a tad bit repetitive at times, but there's a surprising variety of challenges, and the unlocking of skins and weapons is paced really well so you could probably experience it a little differently on subsequent playthroughs simply by switching your battle style. It's super impressive for a solo designed and developed venture!

Looks like the new patch downloaded overnight, so I'll fire it up and hopefully get to finish off the final boss tonight. My only other glitch was when musical tracks would get caught on a short loop, but everything else worked rather smoothly.

I mean, gold just means feature complete and playable from beginning to end - ready for certification. There's always a lot of polishing to be done even after a game goes gold.

But yeah, the crunch situation at CDPR is no bueno.
