Everything Video Games!

This is the first game that I've paid full price for since.... probably Fallout New Vegas back on 360. I ordered the disc instead of digital because it feels like it should be a disc game, you know? I think a physical copy adds a little bit more excitement to it. But that does mean that I won't be able to play it until like next week Tuesday 😩
I never pay full for digital but I just might for this so I don't have to wait.

Of course this game is coming out on my busiest social calendar weekend in two years. Reminding myself I nearly only played DS3 since that came out; I’ve got nothing but time.

Yes but Tesla have shown no desire to actually limit these things to operating while the car is in park. The games it currently has are not limited and can be played by the driver while driving. And secondly sure maybe there will one day be properly functionally fully autonomous cars that don't regularly kill their drivers or random pedestrians but we are not even close to that yet so there is no way in hell anyone should be allowing video games to be played in cars by anyone other that back seat passengers. I'm so sick of Musk and his clickbait garbage. Thankfully the safety board has finally noticed all the bullshit dangerous tech he's been adding his cars and are shutting it down. Like external speakers that can be used WHILE DRIVING.

Again I'm all for regulations on not allowing it while driving. Tesla had to shut it down while investigated and I hope they don't allow that. That's where I would say a line has to be drawn for now. When autodrovw is more reliable we can then explore allowing in that mode.

Because if regulated properly (which is addressed above) it's a cool feature for people who own them. And let's be honest, if you are buying a Tesla, you are buying it for gimmicks like this so why am I to care of people have more options to play (once again assuming the proper authorities regulate it correctly)

It just seems as worthwhile as a hot drink dispenser: yes some people will really use it, but most people won’t, and it sounds more like a setup for an accident than a harmless gimmick. It’s as worthwhile as a fart mode.

Right, I agree all gimmicks and I would never buy a Tesla. But that's what Tesla owners want, gimmicks. I know because my cousin owns one and he eats this shit up.

But all it needs is to be properly regulated. The other arguments in this thread is to just buy a Switch or Steam Deck.....which has no preventive measures to stop you from playing while driving. So if people want to be stupid and play games while driving, they already have the means to do so via their phones, switch, steam deck, etc... With it being in the car it at least has the capability to be regulated, even if Tesla needs to be forced to implement because they are too greedy/stupid to do themselves.

I don’t think I can play mine whilst driving here in the U.K. but I’ve never tried to be honest, and never will. I like to live and stay on the road.

Also not all Tesla owners want gimmicks! Some of us want an electric car to offset the diesel German exec estate pumping fumes into the atmosphere. And also to go fast. And pay less tax. Mostly those two to be fair.

All right, enough talk about games I won't be able to play for a while (even though I REALLY want to), and more talk about games I AM playing.

I'm in the endgame of FFX. Currently working on finishing up the Monster Arena captures, just have a few in Omega Ruins and Inside Sin left to go. Last week, I did nothing but play Blitzball to get Wakka's overdrives and celestial weapon item. What started as the only fun minigame turned into a massive grind. I followed the jegged guide and picked up the players they recommended that you could get right away. Didn't need the "best" characters, Tidus and Brother steamrolled the whole show. I finally got everything I needed, and ended my career at 51 wins, 1 loss. The one loss happened early on, I was going against the Al Bhed Primers, and their goalie had become god tier. Base catch at 20, Tidus' shot was only at 18, and even with the Jecht Shot, the goalie already had the perk to roll a bonus on his catch stat, so I simply couldn't get a goal. They scored one time on a lucky shot (their shot was lower than my goalies catch, but got a crit?). Next rematch I had leveled up enough to nullify their defense, and I never had another game that was even close. It got really boring after the second league, but I soldiered on and got what I needed. The only thing I have to do that I'm dreading is the 200 lightning dodges in the Thunder Plains. I'll probably dedicate some time this weekend just for that, but I'm really not looking forward to it.

I've also been playing Death's Door. Feel like this one didn't get the praise it deserved. A simple isometric beat 'em up. I've been describing it as Miyazaki meets... Miyazaki. The art style seems heavily inspired by the Ghibli films, and some of the mechanics and character/enemy designs remind me a lot of the Souls games. Basic story: death has all but stopped in the world, and you are tasked with re-opening Death's Door to bring balance back. Gameplay is simple, you play a crow reaper that must harvest 3 large souls in order to power the door. You get a melee attack with light and heavy moves, a dodge roll, and some simple spells that you unlock over time, and are used for progression. The neat part with spells is that you start with 4 spell slots, and as you use them they can be refilled by melee attacks on enemies and certain items scattered throughout the world (pots, mushrooms, boxes, etc.). The bosses are a lot of fun, the music is great, and it doesn't overstay it's welcome. I beat it once with 100%, and it took me just under 16 hours. I'm playing through again for the last achievement, which is basically hard mode. You find an umbrella early on that you can equip as a weapon, and you have to beat the game using only it for your melee weapon. The umbrella has half base damage, so it becomes a more magic based run. The first part of the game was the hardest, but once I got the fire magic and the upgrade, as well as spent my souls on upgrading magic, it's gotten a lot easier. I've beaten the first 2/3 main bosses, don't think the last one's going to be too much of a challenge, since I focused on fire attacks the first time through anyways. Really fun game whose simplicity is an asset, and I can't recommend it enough.

I'm really tempted by this but, having never played a Soulslike game, I don't know what to expect.

My co-workers explained that if it's like any of their other games, they are not interested.

If you battle and beat A B C and then die you start over with A.

If you battle A B C ... X Y and then die on Z you start over with A.

If you clear A B C .. X Y Z and then inevitably die when facing the level boss for the first time you start over at A.

I would drop the game so fast if I couldn't make progress and kept having to start over.

I bought Returnal, which I enjoyed for a few hours, but it's like that and I haven't picked it up for a while since there doesn't seem to be actual progress.

My experience with the Souls games was like this, with the added step after these of getting sick of fighting A B C...X Y Z and realizing I can just run past most of them straight to the boss. There's also checkpoints and shortcuts that you unlock as you progress through each area. DS1 in particular's design does this incredibly well.

Returnal is very much that—like a leaner Dead Cells: fewer, larger "levels" and a tighter selection of unlockables that vary primarily in strength and sub ability combos.

It takes a while and feels like slamming your head against a wall, but once the progression hits you definitely feel it. The first biome gets breezier, etc.

I think what works about it for me is that the repetition and encounters with remnants of past selves is part of story. That said, I haven't made it past biome 2 yet.

The gameplay is so goddamn smooth, though. Still my top pick for best representation of next-gen development.

Elden Ring is giving me the “ooh what if I go over there?” feels of Breath of the Wild, but with the atmosphere and combat mechanics of Dark Souls. I’m in heaven.

I started with an Astrologer (sorcerer) class, and unlike previous souls games I actually feel powerful enough to mainly combat with magic. Usually I just revert to swording and boarding.

Just picked up Elden Ring at GameStop.

I don't know what went down, but I'm not complaining. I got it for half price essentially.

I had my February $5 coupon still. And I was attempting to redeem a $15 coupon with rewards points. When attempting to redeem the coupon the GameStop App said. "Where sorry, we encountered an error. Please try again later." I tried again, same error. The guy at GameStop said the apps sucks ever since they updated it. Go to their website from your phone to redeem your coupon. I log in and I have -14100 points. WTF.

The guy was confused and was like, I have never seen a negative point balance before. He's like what's your phone number again, let me check your account to see if you redeemed a coupon.

I had redeemed 2. I should have only been able to redeem 1. Hence the negative point balance. They guy was like that's their error. Let me use both those coupons for you.

He did. I saved $35 on the game. The receipt spits out and he's like. Dude, you still have a $15 coupon on your account. What is going on,

He's like hang on to that Pro card. How dope would it be if you have a coupon stuck on your account for as long as you keep it active.

I bet they will correct it or it will be gone the next time I use it.

But wow.
