DLOT is a bit more in the Booker T and the MG's soul mold than say Jimmy Smith, but very recommended. Also on one of the coolest small labels to support, @Plaid Room / Colemine As @avecigrec mentioned try and also catch a live show, although they are in Europe for July now.

Yes, your better off buying new from new stock on this one if possible as the first pressing had some qc issues. Good album to have and I hope we get Roll Call next from BN.Soul Station is really great!

Probably one of the best BNCs.

That's cool.I just received and now am playing my new Acoustic Sounds pressing of The Poll Winners and I must say…
It’s a winner.
If you like this style of jazz, run, don’t walk, to get your copy. I was predisposed to like it as I own two other Poll Winners albums, but even then this one surprised me.
Poll Winners Win Again: Barney Kessel, Shelly Manne, and Ray Brown Score on Craft Recordings' QRP-Pressed, Grundman-Mastered 180g Vinyl Reissue
There’s a striking new reissue from Craft Recordings I’m sure many jazz fans and collectors are as excited about as I am: 1957’s The Poll Winners. This LP features three of the greatest jazz musicians of their time (as well as the immediate future) — Barney Kessel on guitar backed by Shelly...www.analogplanet.com
Sad to share that Barbara Thompson MBE passed away yesterday morning just a few days shy of her 78th birthday. A true jazz icon.Very sad to hear of Barbara Thompson's struggles. Thompson is a British icon, one of the few female jazz musicians to have made a mark during the golden era. It would almost be impossible to list all of her achievements in one go, she really is an amazing musician.
Unfortunately, she has been battling Parkinson's for quite a while now and earlier her daughter shared that Thompson has been asleep at home all week and is in her final days. I have been fortunate enough to see her a few times in passing (she lives down the road from me) and it's always a pleasure to see someone so important to British jazz.
Here's to a true musical legend.
