An Email from Jazz In Britain. I have an order placed in February 2021...

Dear vinyl pre-order customer,

An update from Jazz In Britain which applies to all three of these albums:

  • Forget To Remember - Live Vo1. 2: 1970 by The Ray Russell Sextet featuring Harry Beckett
  • Formation: Live '61 by The Joe Harriott Quintet
  • Ken Wheeler: Some Gnu Ones by Chris Laurence
All three albums have been delayed a number of times at the pressing plant due to a range of reasons including general capacity issues in the vinyl sector, staff shortages dues to Covid and social distancing, and lack of raw materials, especially high quality card, caused by lockdowns.

We were promised … via the broker we use … that all three albums would be pressed in the week beginning 27th June. That didn’t happen and our attempts to get an updated production date are currently proving fruitless. We can’t speak directly to the pressing plant and believe there may now be an issue around summer holidays!

We understand this is a problem across the industry and ask you for your patience. This is all out of our control and we will continue to ask for updates and a new date.

Unfortunately the albums are showing as available on our Bandcamp page; this is due to a quirk in the way we set up pre-orders and we can’t change these dates now.

Once again … sorry.

With very best wishes and thanks for your continued support.

Came on here to share the same. Strangely just yesterday I was wondering where they were and checked the original 'arrive by' dates (I screenshot every purchase and dump in a folder). Some of these are well over a year delayed already. Not JIB's fault but goes to highlight how tricky it is for small labels at the moment.

At a certain point it's hard to believe it's note JIB's fault at all. I understand and believe all records manufacturers are all behind the schedule and smaller labels are the one who suffer the more from this. Still, I see other small labels respecting release dates with no big delays. These situations with delays of a year or more are very very limited from what I can see. Don't know what happened here and I am not blaming JIB but there were probably ways to improve a little bit. Anyway, these are only records, we all can wait a few months more :)

Im in the same mind set, happy to wait.

Honestly, I'm not sure what's going on but it certainly is an excessive delay, there must have been some pretty significant reasoning behind it. I am glad JIB seem to have slowed down on physical vinyl releases though, its getting kind of ridiculous buying 3-4 then having to wait over a year.

Agreed. For non UK customers it's even worst as they don't combine shipping anymore; If I remember correctly everything now ships from Poland and, when I placed my last order, I had to pay shipping fees for each of the records I ordered. It was a deal breaker for me. Anyway, I hope they solve these issues, they must face a lot of canceled orders too.

I've been grabbing some of these old Contemporary copies for cheap lately.
Waiting on a few to come in.
VG+ Kessel- Bizets for a $1
Barney Kessel - Modern Jazz Performances From Bizet's Opera Carmen
VG+ Previn- Gigi for $2

Still fairly cheap, I grabbed NM/VG+- Bells are Ringing, My Fair Lady, Poll Winners Three!, and Poll Winners Exploring the Scene.

Roll of the dice with the cogs as always but will be fun to try these out.

I feel like the Roy DuNann recordings have flown under the radar a bit with most people focused on the bigger Titles and RVG instead.

You really can't miss on ANYTHING that has Contemporary on them. The 80's OJC's are good as well.
