I saw someone frame the Potter story as mimicking a boarding-school genre which is more common in the UK, which is freighted with a lot of classism and elitism. Rowling also struggles to include a very diverse cast and falls into a common trap of singling out the non-white characters (ahem, Cho Chan and Kingsley Shacklebolt), which only further underlines their being out-of-place. Add in the bank gnomes and the way Hermoine's "save the house elves"/spew crusade is framed as silly and a bleeding heart activist doing too much...once you scratch past the Iraq-era "war bad" messaging which overwhelms the back half of the series, JK's "acceptance record" is...anemic.

I don't think she's been awful this whole time, just maybe a flawed individual with blind spots; being super rich and detached from everyday life probably exacerbated that and she doesn't have someone telling her to just log off and enjoy the cash.
 
My mothers company just had another round of layoffs and canceled/paused all new product projects.

This is all because they are project that Trump will win the election, and if he does he will place tariffs on imports from China. Trump's last presidency and the China tariffs significantly impacted their bottom line as they make home goods and gifts.

They are currently in a holding patter until after the election, to determine if they continue to source all production in China or seek alternative options.

Do you think Trump’s team is just those two dudes from Miss Maisel and they “convince” you it would be “bad for your health” not to vote/support/praise Trump?
 
I had forgotten who that useless turd was when I saw a blurb about him saying he wasn’t gonna vote for Trump. The article I read didn’t bother to tell me, so I had to google it. I’m sure I’m on some FBI list now. My reaction was Jesus fucking Christ, this kid? Who the fuck cares? Well the cult does, that’s for damn sure.

Also another reminder of why assault rifle bans need to be an issue.

They will all abandon this chode soon enough. He should check out George Zimmerman’s Wikipedia to see what the future holds for him. It’s not pretty.
