Texas Senator John Cornyn vies with S.D.’s John Thune to become next Senate majority leader

If Cornyn wins the contest to become the Senate majority leader, that would potentially give Texas two of the most powerful posts in Congress. Ted Cruz, just reelected to a third term, is in line to become the next chair of the Senate Commerce Committee. Those two offices play a considerable role in steering federal funding to the states.

So, is this really something Trump said he's going to do, or is this ai content.

I'm questioning reality here because I have not heard this reporting by any major media outlet. Because if Trump really said he's going to do this, wtf. This needs to be reported on.

While I haven't heard this mentioned in the news, if I Google the topic, yes, it's been reported on. Looks like it's been buried by the story of Trump winning the election.

So many people believe the Department of Education has failed us. One of the key things I have seen on social media is the department of education doesn't educate, it indoctrinates children and teaches woke agendas. There is a lot of anger and fear about our public education system and mega and conservative people love the idea of abolishing the Department of Education and making education local again.

Do they not get that the Department of Education takes money from high population blue states to pay for education in low population red states? Do they not realize that this will make the education system worse in their state.

But I guess the state of Missouri goes to show that people will vote against their self interests when picking their candidates and policies at a macro level. Democrat polices like the right to abortion, increased minimum wage and another one I can't remember were on the ballot in Missouri. They all passed. But at the same time, the elected officials they chose were all deep red and against such policies. Why do people continue to align them selves with people who are against their self interests?

So get this.

AOC's district swung 20 points towards Trump... and yet she won by her biggest margin yet. Her race wasn't even close. In other words, there were a ton of Trump / AOC voters.
I think the real deal is people want real change and as evident in a lot of the senate races and propositions that won, they also actually like left policies. MAGA to burn down the guard rails and the left to actually make it work for them. I just don’t think they realized what they did in giving the right as much power as they did.

She is having a decent dialogue with people online about how they could vote for her and Trump on the same ballot. I like that she's listening and asking about it. It won't make a difference when Project 2025 is rammed down everyone's throats causing massive pain and unintended consequences for those who voted both ways. But people wanted to blow things up and this is the be careful what you wish for part because you just might get it.

The FDA has recalled 80,000 pounds of salted and unsalted Kirkland Signature Sweat Cream Butter sold at Costco.

This recall has conservatives up in arms on social media talking about how America is too dumbed down and woke.

The reason for the recall? The packaging does not visible display the allergen statement "Contains Milk". The packaging does list cream in the ingredients.

Nothing is wrong with the butter, but it's being recalled for not explicitly stating it contains milk. Something conservatives thing should be common sense and America is being too sensitive catering to the dumb.

sweat cream does sound a bit gross tbh.

The current system isn't work and hasn't for several decades. Unfortunately, Democrats fought tooth and nail to maintain the status quo and / or the same people in power at the top of the party while the GOP pivoted and accepted a fake populist, longtime Democrat at the top of the ticket because they saw the potential to shatter coalitions.

Now we all suffer due to the DNC's repeated arrogance.

If you look closely, there is a direct correlation between areas that voted for Trump and areas where the average wage has not kept up with inflation. There is also a direct correlation with education.

So what drove the vote? Hope for improved earnings (purchasing power), revenge on the elites, anger at a system that is outdated and failed, and a dream to return to the past - which was, in fact, better for them.

But that past can't and won't come back. Manufacturing isn't coming back. The 52% won't pay $150 for a pair of shoes made in the USA. They won't pay $75 for the polyester pants they wear to the local bingo hall. They won't pay $5000 for a laptop that today costs $750 at Best Buy. Not going to happen.

In fact, tariffs will worsen their price misery, because they will impact high quality products made in countries other than China. Vinyl made in Germany, jeans made in Japan, a shirt made in India - all will cost more.

Even their MAGA bibles and Trump bobbleheads will cost more.

Republicans have consistently blocked minimum wage increases, worker protections, consumer protections, employment laws - in fact, anything that would actually help that 52%.

Republicans have, consistently over many decades, weakened the education system and access to higher education, necessary to lift that 52% up and at least give their children a better future. Many, maybe most, of that 52% are too dumb and/or lazy to get a higher education. Nevertheless, access is everything.

Republicans have consistently weakened even the modest and toothless oversight of financial institutions. This helps the rich get richer at the expense of the not wealthy and working class.

But hope, revenge, anger and fantasy are a powerful emotional cocktail.

How long they continue to drive Trump popularity remains to be seen.
This is all 100% true, and will be completely and successfully blamed on the Democrats.

This is 100% what will happen. Republicans have run the state of Texas in both houses, governorship, and most state offices for over 20 years yet Democrats and liberals are the reason everything bad in Texas is a bad. And people vote for it again and again.

Currently there are 17 house seats left to call, and the Republicans only need 4 to take control of the house.

I don't know about you, but I'm not feeling good about those odds.

May the odds ever be in your favor in the voice of President Snow.

Apparently the republican base is far more sensitive to having their leader called a "fanciest" than democrats are to having theirs called a "commie". Them are fighting words for republicans and really riled a lot of them up and out to the polls to vote for Donald Trump.
