Yeah, but this was always the end point. Trump has spent last 4 years eroding the trust in the Fourth Estate. Many no longer believe in our institutions. This is a byproduct of that erosion.
All of the arguments from the right are completely without an ounce of evidence or merit. This is what happens when an entire political group decides that dictatorship and authoritarianism is the way they want to head. If Trump was even halfway competent and not an absolute ignoramous, democracy in America would be dead right now. He did literally everything wrong and still managed to ALMOST pull it off with the help of the most spineless scum sucking evil group of sycophant hypocrites senators I've ever seen. This should be a warning, to everyone... that the next time around this might not be the outcome. The fact that these traitorous fucks are still propagating all these imbecilic lies just shows you how little these people care for your country or anyone in it besides themselves and only themselves. They should all be in prison. This cannot be allowed to stand. Because if it does, the next time around, maybe in as little as four years, they're going to try this again, and they will have learned and they'll be better at it. The Republican Party has officially announced themselves to be against democracy and for facism and dictatorship. That cannot be allowed to stand.
Jeb Bush tweeted something to this effect regarding Florida. Everyone was talking about how smooth that process was and he said something to the effect of “of course it was, after 2000 we got our shit together.” Many more will heed this moving forward I am sure.
The strange part about Trump is him being a lazy fat idiot was strangely a large part of his draw. I am not saying that some other Fascist couldn’t get elected but Trump’s mix of dumb authoritarianism was a large part of his appeal.
Yeah, republicans will obviously try for a fascist again in 2024, but it is yet to be seen if it will take a blowhard asshole to have the same dedicated appeal, I think
Some are saying now that Trump should run again. Probably also the same people saying Biden is too old.
I'd be fine with watching him lose again, but I'd also prefer he be dead by then.
4 years is a long time. Once he is a former President he can still hold events and watch news and tweet. My guess is he becomes quite content with his post Presidential life. Though I think he will tease out the possibility of running again for the rest of his life because it will capture attention as long as it is a possibility.
