Vinyl Me Please Classics

Amazon product ASIN B0BBS7W1L4

Not sure who is doing it but Irwin Chusid posted that quote I copied above on a Facebook post about Jazz in Silhouette apparently! Assuming he wrote liner notes for it

I typically avoid supporting Amazon at all costs, but having not found any other listing for Universe in Blue I'm taking my chances on the link you posted... and I've got my old neighbours' Prime login to watch some shows with, so that's gotten me out of shipping, at least, if this does indeed happen!

found the UPC for it so that may help you search for it elsewhere if you want!

looks like @Ethos99 might have it at VFL:

VFL FTW! With a couple other goodies thrown in to spread out the shipping costs. Thanks @MikeH for saving me from the drones!

Just listening to the Coleman on Apple Music. Wow there is some seriously harsh stereo separation on the album. Absolutely unlistenable with headphones.
I don't really listen on vinyl on headphones much but from what I remember, the KG stereo cut is not that intense separation-wise. I know a lot of people seem to like the stereo on it since there are sections where the music can get quite hectic and it's nice to hear the instrument separation a bit.

Qobuz has the mono + stereo mixes but not sure you have access to Qobuz up in Canadaland

Shape of Jazz has Cherry in one speaker and Ornette in the other with a pretty decent placement of the drums, I always considered the stereo mix a very nice soundstage with great separation, not so much hard panning in any bad way. I definitely like the way it sounds on my system. I consider it superior to the mono mix, but damn I can't wait to hear what Ryan Smith does with that hardly-touched mono tape.

No Qobuz just Tidal or Apple (which I use). It is definitely the streaming master that is terrible. I bet the vinyl stereo sounds nice. Though I know one of the BN80s or Classics (cannot remember which one) is like this on vinyl, hard separation with trumpet or sax entirely in one speaker. Sounds fine with speakers but terrible with headphones (especially good ones with a wide sound stage).

I will wait for review of the mono (will probably be great) and pick it up later probably.

But this is why I hate streaming services. Too little info on the masters they are using. And especially with free jazz, Don blow in one ear and Ornette in the other it can almost induce a complete psychic breakdown. ;)

I'm pretty sure the Miles site leak just said "fall" and nothing about which month specifically, but I could be misremembering.

I am sure the tweet said October but I could be misremembering as well. As long as it happens in this quarter I am good

Edit: maybe somebody actually read the booklet when it came back from the printers and saw all the typos

Yeah they were showing Miles Davis as the November Classics. I just changed the name of the albums in the URL to get the Bob Dylan and Yusef Lateef photos
