Vinyl Me Please Classics

Back in the early '00s, my then-girlfriend and I spent Thanksgiving in San Francisco with some friends, and one of the highlights of that trip was when they put Trout Mask Replica on just as we were all sitting down for Thanksgiving dinner. Amused me to no end. Others... not so much.
The balls one needs to have to choose that album to accompany Thanksgiving dinner…

Sounds like great hosts.

Finally got my copy in today. Looked clean, but still threw it in the degritter. Came out spotless and dead quiet. Extremely impressed with this one. Put it on while I was making dinner; couldn't have asked for better background music.

for those who were hoping for Sun Ra's Jazz in Silhouette (aka @avecigrec ) supposedly it’s getting a non-VMP reissue later this year!

“Expanded, OFFICIAL remastered edition should hit the markets later this year. Bottlenecks in manufacturing have delayed the release, for which production was finished over a year ago.”

So we’re getting vinyl reissues of Jazz in Silhouette, Universe in Blue and Futuristic Sounds all this year!

I found this at the end of the new Art On Saturn book, and it feels like the equivalent of the post-credits scene so prevalent in film and television these days!

I suspect this is the precise edition that has been delayed (especially since the very recent Universe In Blue reissue is just a couple of images over in the full spread)

Miles showed up today. Did not get a chance to clean and spin. I don't know if it was advertised as a single pocket jacket and I guess I get it being one, but it was a little bit disappointing.

I understood it to be single sleeve from the ad copy.

I hope mine arrives soon, this is an awesome album.

To answer my own question now that I have it in hand, yes, the spine is wide. I've seen wider, but still, the two records have adequate room inside.

Listening to it now and so far it's pretty amazing. Dead quiet pressing with a lot of space separation for the instruments to do their thing. There is a lot of dead wax on sides 1 and 4, but it beats the alternative of cramming everything onto a single LP. I can't fathom another pressing sounding better than this.
